Tailored ProgramsGCSE Physical EducationOur GCSE program can be used to fulfil requirements of the Adventurous Activities element of the syllabus. Activities include Climbing, Abseiling and Ropework Skills, Kayaking & Canoeing and Orienteering. This practical course allows students to meet challenges and develop skills in other areas such as problem solving, planning, analysis and evaluation, risk assessment and we emphasise personal and social skills throughout the chosen activities. Local groups can achieve this over 4 daily visits, groups from further afield require a 4night /5 day stay. We have experience of working with schools using WJEC, OCR, EdExcel & AQA examination boards. Please ring to discuss your requirements. College Multi Activity Courses & Trips- Adventurous Activities for BTEC 1st Diplomas & National Diplomas. We offer to college students a practical skills based programme tailored to the needs of students on courses such as Public Services, Sport and Recreation, Leisure and Tourism, NVQ Outdoor Education and NVQ Sports Science. In particular we've worked with over a dozen colleges who provide Public Service courses and an excellent course tailored to meet the requirements of those students. We can cater for residential groups of up to 100 in chalets & dorms though college groups are typically in the 20-40 size range which allows for a more personal and tailored experience. The food is good and there's lots of it and we have a fantastic range of activities including Kayaking, Canoeing, Sailing, Climbing, Abseiling, High Ropes Challenge, Zip-Wire, Archery, Assault Course, Orienteering, Wilderness Skills and much, much more. Evening activities are also provided- sometimes these are related to the course e.g. route planning. The courses are led and developed by a qualified teacher and qualified instructors assist to provide high quality experiences tailored to meet your student's needs. We value the input of course tutors before and during the trip so please ring us to discuss your particular requirements on 01545 580127 or e-mail ken@llain.com. We also work with colleges who are looking to broaden the skills and experience of students participating in all manner of courses. A residential trip can offer a focus to celebrate the end of a course or can provide a boost at the start of a new course to bring students together and form a cooperative team or unit. An outdoor activities course is a brilliant way of getting to know your students and to break down barriers within the group. Students forge positive working relationships with their peer group and with tutors- the effects of which can be used as soon as you're back at campus. Outdoor activities are perfect for fulfilling the requirements & meeting the targets of various units containing elements such as leadership, health & safety, planning & preparation & navigation. Mock rescues of an injured person from a ravine, planning and completing a Hillwalk or preparing for a river trip- we can deliver the practical skills that will bring out the best in your students Contact us for more details and to discuss your group’s requirements. Groups with Special NeedsIn the last year we have worked with groups with visual, hearing & physical impairment. Those clients have surpassed all our expectations and have greatly appreciated the opportunity to take part in adventurous activities. All buildings at Llain are wheelchair accessible and we have modified facilities to accommodate those with various special needs. Please ring to discuss.
University GroupsMany university courses include teaching of a broader range of skills than the course title would suggest. These include leadership, communication, motivation, negotiation, team-working skills and improving performance. These can all be achieved through an innovative approach using a combination of problem solving challenges and adventurous activities. What better way to develop skills and knowledge than through a hands-on and practical approach to learning. Our ‘Fly High’ package includes the fantastic Sky Tower activities coupled with Team Challenges such as the Spider’s Web, Great Wall, Armageddon & Swing Thing. These provide a fantastic opportunity for students to work together and fertile ground for learning. Contact us for more details or to arrange a preview. Party Leader VisitsFor new groups we offer and advise a preview visit, including free overnight accommodation, for those who have made a provisional booking. We will endeavour to answer any questions that you may have and provide a comprehensive guide to the centre and surrounding area. Programming
Great care is taken in the design of each programme to ensure that it fulfils the special needs of each group. We strongly believe that the course should be tailored to meet to needs of the individual group, therefore party leader input is an essential part of this process. Whenever possible all of the activities are available, however at certain times of the year when weather conditions become unfavourable, the availability of some options may be affected. The ratio of staff to client ratio is never more than 10:1. For some activities ie. Kayaking the ratio is 5:1. For those groups with special needs staff ratios can be tailored to suit your requirements. |
