Adventure Courses

Our 300m adventure course includes a series of bridges, tunnels, rope swings, confidence tests, ramps and all manner of other obstacles. It is likely to be the wettest and muddiest experience of your life! It’s been voted the most popular activity by visiting groups and is great fun and a challenge for all ages. In 2004 we added a 16 element low ropes course designed to test agility and initiative and provide a warm-up for the assault course.

The Sky Tower- High Ropes Course & Zip Wire

The high ropes course offers a challenge that will develop team spirit, communication skills and problem solving skills. Group belaying develops trust and responsibility and enables everyone to participate. The aim is to climb and clamber up, over, across and down the elements helping each other as you go.

The zip-wire is tremendous fun and offers a chance for clients to really test their nerve. Connected to a steel wire suspended 10 metres above the ground you’ll get a ‘roller coaster’ rush as you rapidly descend and accelerate along the 70 metre wire.

Team Building

A large array of taxing team-building problems set at various levels of difficulty all of which test the individual and the group. Ski Planks, Tricky Tree Stumps, The Bomb, Swing Thing, Spiders Web & The Wall are fantastic ways to ‘break the ice’ and have lots of fun.

Orienteering

Once the fundamental skills have been mastered, navigate around our two permanent courses in 25 acres of woodland.

Climbing and Abseiling

This takes place on our new purpose built tower within the centre grounds. Following an introductory session outlining basic rope handling, safety techniques and skills required, then its time to climb the wall. The four sides of the tower provide challenge and progression for all abilities. Over 20 routes from easy to challenging.

Extreme Climbing

Our ‘Sky Tower’ (see above) also comes with a superb10 metre high climbing tower. Three new sides of climbing with over 400 holds making up 15 routes ranging from easy-angled to overhanging and very difficult. Designed to test our older groups or those clients who are natural climbers. We’ll still use our existing tower to introduce most of our climbing sessions and progress onto the new tower as skills develop. More advanced groups will be able to get their teeth right into some ‘Extreme Climbing’.

Kayaking & Canoeing

Enjoy the thrills and spills of this exciting activity on the sea or on the lake. Once you have mastered the basics we keep building your confidence with games and exercises. Taster and beginner sessions take place on the lake. More advanced paddlers can try their hand at sea kayaking.

Sailing

Topper & Wayfarer dinghies are used for the sailing sessions in the secluded and naturally sheltered New Quay Bay. Clients are taught the basic hands on techniques with a safety boat in attendance at all times for extra support. Feeling the sails billow and miraculously moving across the water for the first time is a wonderful feeling. Wind Power has never been this much fun!

New Quay Bay is part of the Ceredigion Heritage Coastline, the only section of coast in England & Wales with a resident population of Bottlenose Dolphins.

Raft Building

A team exercise using barrels and ropes. It must hold together and, of course, float when put to the test on our lake. An excellent team event with groups racing around the islands on the lake to be the first to finish.

Archery

A range of bows are available to suit all strengths and sizes. Strict attention is paid to discipline and safety on our indoor and outdoor ranges.

Bivouac & Campfire

A chance to learn basic wilderness skills in the woods. This could include building an improvised shelter and spending the night in our private woodland with our trained staff. The legendary Llain campfire is one of the many highlights of the week with stories, singing and learning the mysterious art of marshmallow toasting..

Forest Adventure

An improvised activity that involves getting muddy followed by wet, wet and more wet. Set in a small river in our woods we negotiate ½ km of chutes, pools and obstacles on our way to achieving ‘Operation Clean’. Great fun and a very popular activity.

Forest Adventure

Walking
